The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team grabbed its first win of the 2024 season, beating Golden West in five sets on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference contest at home.
Irvine Valley lost the first two sets, but stormed back for a 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25, 15-13 victory.
The Lasers moved their record to 1-10 overall and 1-2 in the OEC.
Sophomore outside hitter Audrey Fowler had a standout match with 13 kills and 22 digs.
IVC sophomore outside hitter Hailey Oldham finished with 14 kills, 15 digs and three blocks and sophomore libero Nikki Korneff added 22 digs.
Freshman middle blocker Valeria Leon contributed with five kills and eight blocks.
Freshman setter Emmi Scalzo ran the Laser offense with 42 assists.
The Lasers play again next Friday at Cypress in a conference match at 6 p.m.
