Irvine Valley Athletics is excited to announce that Alissa Blevins has been named Irvine Valley's new women's indoor volleyball coach for the 2025 fall season.

Blevins was a two-year standout at IVC - two seasons with beach and one with indoor - and went on to compete at the four-year level.

She replaces another Irvine Valley star, Anna Unke, who played at Irvine Valley in indoor and beach, and was recently hired as the director of volleyball at Crean Lutheran High.

After Irvine Valley, Blevins played at Providence University in Great Falls, Mont., coached in Montana at the club and high school level and has worked with the Prime Volleyball Club in Ladera Ranch for almost 10 years.

"When I heard that Irvine Valley was looking for a new coach, it made it easy to reach out," Blevins said. "I loved playing at Irvine Valley and wanted to be here. I am glad it has worked out."

Blevins was the starting setter for the Lasers in 2017 and helped Irvine Valley end the season with a record of 15-7 overall and 11-5 in conference, which was good for fourth place.

The Lasers won four matches in a row late in the year, including upsetting Santa Barbara City in the Southern California Regional Playoffs, before falling to El Camino in the playoffs.

Blevins started all 22 matches for Irvine Valley and played in a team-high 83 sets. She averaged 7.52 assists per set and led the team in aces with 31. She also had 210 digs, which was fourth best on the team.

She topped 30 assists in nine contests on the year and 40 assists in four matches with a season-high 48 assists in three matches.

She had 10 matches with at least 10 digs, including a season-best 19 digs against Saddleback. Blevins recorded 18 digs and had 33 assists in IVC's big, five-set win over Santa Barbara City in the playoffs.

Blevins was also part of Irvine Valley's beach volleyball program in 2016 and 2017. She helped IVC finish second in the state in the spring of 2016 and was named an all-Orange Empire Conference player in beach volleyball

"I am excited most about getting in the gym with the players this summer and seeing what type of team we are going to have in the fall," Blevins said. "It is about who we are going to be and how we are going to rise to challenges throughout the year."

Blevins has several newcomers and then returners from the IVC team that had a record of 22-5 overall and made the 3C2A State Championship semifinals.

"The players seem really excited and I can't wait to work with them even more," Blevins said. "My philosophy is heart and hustle. I believe that stems from as much on the court as it is off of the court.

"It is all going to get you ready for anything."
