The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team battled with Saddleback Friday night in an Orange Empire Conference match on the road.
Saddleback earned a tough victory, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22.
Irvine Valley's record went to 7-15 overall and 7-7 in the OEC. The Lasers sit in a tie for fifth place in conference and are still fighting for a playoff spot.
Saddleback stayed in a tie for the conference with Orange Coast with a record of 12-1. The Bobcats have a record of 16-4 overall.
For the Lasers, freshman opposite Hailey Oldham led in kills with 20 kills and nine digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Alya Mersin finished with 18 kills and sophomore outside hitter Audrey Fowler contributed 16 kills and 21 digs on the night.
Sophomore libero Nikki Korneff ended with 24 digs and freshman setter Alondra Castro ran the offense with a season-high 54 assists and added two aces and 12 digs.
Saddleback women's volleyball team defeated Irvine Valley College, 3-1, on Friday night inside the gymnasium. It was the sixth straight win for the Bobcats, who remain in a tie for first place in the Orange Empire Conference.
The Bobcats were led by Delaney Wilson and Cori Willcoxson, who combined for 33 kills on 75 attempts.
Meg Gardner chipped in with 17 kills.
Irvine Valley closes out the regular season next week with a match at Fullerton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then a contest at Santiago Canyon on Friday at 6 p.m.
