Former Irvine Valley women's all-state beach and indoor standout Tessa Marocco kept shining at NCAA Division I University of Hawaii on the sand this spring.
She was named the Orange Empire Conference co-MVP as a freshman in 2022 with the indoor team where the Lasers earned a conference title and went 20-5 overall.
Marocco had 314 kills and also contributed with 187 digs, 26 total blocks and 20 service aces.
She then helped lead the IVC indoor team to a share of the OEC title and make the 3C2A State Championship tournament in the fall of 2023.
Irvine Valley claimed its second consecutive OEC Championship and fifth in six years.
Marocco, out of Mater Dei High, was fourth in the OEC in kills per set at 3.49 and second in total kills with 311 in 2023.
She also led the conference in aces per set at 0.65.
Marocco was named first team all-conference, all-region and all-state in 2023.
She then finished second in the conference beach pairs championship with Kenzie Dews in the spring of 2024 and ended up making the 3C2A State Championship where the duo finished sixth overall.
Marocco played at the top of the order for an IVC team that captured the OEC with a perfect 14-0 record.
As a team, IVC had a record of 15-6 overall and reached the So. Cal. Regionals.
This spring with Hawaii, Marocco helped the Rainbow Wahine to a 14-21 record and a trip to the Big West Championship semifinals.
She competed in two dual matches, going 1-1 with partner Kasen Rosenthal.
Marocco picked up her first victory as a BeachBow with a three-set victory over San Francisco at the No. 5 flight.
She also appeared in more than a half dozen matches at the No. 6 exhibition court.
