The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team improved its record to 5-1 overall with its second sweep in a row and fourth on the year with a 25-21, 25-23, 25-19 win on the road Friday night at El Camino.
After losing at Moorpark in three-straight sets on Feb. 7, IVC has turned things back around.
Irvine Valley, ranked fifth in the state, plays again next Wednesday at home vs. Santa Monica at 1 p.m. in a match that has been moved up in the day because of a mens basketball team Orange Empire Conference tournament game at 6 p.m. against Orange Coast.
Irvine Valley had defeated Fullerton in a sweep at home on Wednesday and then earned another sweep at El Camino.
IVC was led by freshman outside hitter Jack McGrew, who had 10 kills on 31 swings with just two errors and freshman middle blocker Joshua Damianopoulos added seven kills on 12 attempts and finished with fiive blocks.
Freshman setter Bryce Nohava dished out 27 assists and seven digs for the Lasers.
And freshman libero Cage Gonzalez chipped in five digs.
Irvine Valley hit just .187 for the night, but held El Camino to a .000 hitting percentage.
El Camino was paced by Mark Jensen-Padaoil and Garret Gronbach, who had seven kills each.
Gronbach also had 12 digs.
After next Wednesay, the Lasers are on the road at Long Beach City on Friday (Feb. 21) at 6 p.m.
