The Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team, ranked No. 6 in the state, played its final match of the regular season and swept Santiago Canyon, 25-17, 25-14, 25-23 in a regional match Friday at home.
The Lasers will now look forward to the playoff pairings, which will be announced this weekend.
Irvine Valley can be anywhere from the fourth to the seventh seed in the state playoffs.
Even more important, Irvine Valley, led by head coach Rory Jones, honored sophomore players and redshirt freshmen players that will be moving on after the season.
Those players incuded Jonathan Guerrero, Riley Hurdiss, Markus Lomeli, Caleb Manea, Domenic Marquez and Ian Nelson.
Irvine Valley moved its record to 15-7 overall and 9-5 in regional play.
The Lasers hit a combined .329 on the night as a team, led by sophomore outside hitter Jonathan Guerrero and freshman outside hitter Spencer York with seven kills each.
Guerrero hit an impressive .600 (7-1-10).
York added four aces, four digs and one block.
Nelson finished with 12 assists and freshman setter Anthony Diosdado conributed 12 assists for the Lasers.
Freshman libero Cage Gonzalez ended with seven digs. And IVC had 24 digs as a team in the contest.
