Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team captured its second straight win, sweeping Palomar, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 Friday night at home in a south divisional match-up.
IVC improved its record to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in divisional play.
The Lasers hit a total of .346 on the night with freshman outside hitter Jack McGrew leading the way with 10 kills and hitting .412.
McGrew finished the second set for Irvine Valley with two straight kills. The set win for McGrew was off an assist from freshman libero Cage Gonzalez.
The third set was back and forth. The set was tied at 20-20, but Irvine Valley scored the next three points. Two of those points came off of aces by freshman setter Bryce Nohava.
And two kills by freshman middle blocker Markus Lomeli ended the match,.
Lomeli ended with a perfect night with seven kills and zero errors on seven hitting attempts. He also added two blocks.
Freshman opposite Travis Kaufman finished with nine kills, hit .316 and had five digs.
IVC freshman outside hitter Spencer York had nine kills and seven digs.
And Nohava ran the offense with 35 assists. He also contributed four digs and three aces.
Irvine Valley, ranked sixth in the state, has an important match next Wednesday at No. 2 San Diego Mesa at 6 p.m.
