Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team, ranked No. 6 in the state, went on the road and took down No. 7 San Diego Miramar, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19, in a conference match on the road Wednesday night.
The win kept IVC ahead of Miramar in the standings and moved the Lasers to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Irvine Valley hit just .234 as a team on the night as a team.
But the Lasers received a couple of big performances.
Freshman opposite Travis Kaufman had 18 kills, hit .303 and added seven digs for Irvine Valley.
And, freshman outside hitter Jack McGrew finished with 18 kills, hit .343 and had seven digs.
Freshman outside hitter Tucker McClain chipped in seven kills, five digs and two aces.
IVC freshman setter Bryce Nohava ran the offense with 44 assists and freshman libero Cage Gonzalez ended with a team-high 12 digs.
Irvine Valley hosts Grossmont in another conference match on Friday at 6 p.m.
