Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team goes on the road against one of the best teams in the state and falls, 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, at Golden West Friday.
IVC, ranked No. 6 in the state, had its record go to 14-6 overall and 8-4 in the Orange Empire Conference, while No. 3 Golden West improved to 18-2 overall and 10-2 in the OEC.
Golden West captured both matches in divisional play against the Lasers.
Irvine Valley hit just .218 on the night.
The Lasers were led by freshman opposite Travis Kaufman with 11 kills, five digs and two blocks.
Freshman outside hitter Tucker McClain added nine kills and freshman outside hitter Lucas Vo had eight kills.
Irvine Valley freshman setter Bryce Nohava ended with 33 assists and four digs and freshman libero Cage Gonzalez finished with 15 digs.
The Lasers end the regular season next week, playing Orange Coast on Wednesday at home at 6 p.m. and then Santiago Canyon at home at 6 p.m. on sophomore night.
