Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team, ranked fifth in the state, loses to Long Beach City in straight sets, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19, Friday night on the road.
The Lasers' record went to 6-2 overall. Both of their losses have been in sweeps on the road (Moorpark and Long Beach City).
Long Beach City moved its record to 4-4 overall.
Irvine Valley hit .241 on the night, while Long Beach ended with a .365 hitting percentage.
The Lasers were led by freshman outside hitter Spencer York with 10 kills, freshman outside Travis Kaufman with eight kills and seven digs, freshman libero Cage Gonzalez with 10 digs and freshman setter Bryce Nohava with 21 assists and four digs.
For Long Beach, setter Willy Wang had 33 assists, four kills and three aces and Sebastian Kim ended with 11 kills and hit .500.
Irvine Valley plays again Wednesday on the road at Palomar at 6 p.m.
