Three baseball players honored with team awards

Irvine Valley baseball coach Kent Madole recently handed out end of the season awards to three Laser players.

Sophomore shortstop Jordan Gillerman was picked as the team's silver slugger while sophomore left fielder Clint Jack and sophomore center fielder Dillon Millar shared offensive player of the year honors.

Gillerman was selected first team all-Orange Empire Conference this season.

Gillerman batted a team-best .367 on the season with 51 hits, 10 doubles and 26 RBI.

He ranked eighth in the conference in batting average, tied for eighth in hits, tied for 11th in doubles and tied for 16th in RBI.

Gillerman had 15 games with at least two hits this season and eight games with three hits or more.

He went 4 for 5 with one RBI in Irvine Valley's 12-6 win at Golden West on April 2. Gillerman was 3 for 5 with three RBI in a 17-2 victory at West LA on Feb. 26.

And he went 3 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and five RBI in a 12-5 win for Irvine Valley over OCC on April 7.

Jack was selected second team all-conference. He batted .345 with 51 hits, 22 runs, six doubles and 12 RBI. He also struck out just four times in 148 at bats.

Jack ranked second on the team in batting average, tied for first in hits and third in runs.

He had 14 multi-hit games this season, including two games with five hits. He went 5 for 6 with two doubles and three RBI in Irvine Valley's 17-2 win over West LA on March 3 and then had a 5 for 6 game with a double, three runs scored and one RBI in Irvine Valley's 12-6 win over Golden West on April 2.

Millar was also a second-team all-conference pick.

He batted .331 with 49 hits, 28 runs, nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 20 RBI. He also had nine stolen bases.

Millar led the team in runs scored and stolen bases and was second in hits and doubles and tied for second in RBI.

He also paced the team in walks with 17.

Millar had 16 multi-hit games this season, including a four-hit performance in the team's 15-1 win at LA Harbor in March.

The three players were all two-year starters for IVC.
They helped Irvine Valley to a record of 17-19 overall and a 8-13 record in conference this season.
