Irvine Valley sophomore baseball player Jordan Gillerman was named a Southern California Player of the Week by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association after batting .615 this past week for the Lasers.
Gillerman, who starts at shortstop, went 8 for 13 with two doubles, four runs scored and six RBI in a three-game Orange Empire Conference series against Orange Coast.
He went 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and five RBI in a 12-5 win for Irvine Valley over OCC on April 7.
After Irvine Valley's 4-3 win over Cypress in 12 innings on Tuesday, Gillerman was batting .355 with 38 hits, seven doubles, 20 runs and 22 RBI. He led the team in RBI and was second in batting average, runs, hits and doubles.
He had the game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 12th inning in the IVC win over Cypress on Tuesday.
This is Irvine Valley's second So. Cal. player of the week winner in 2016. Sophomore Clint Jack earned the award earlier this season.
IVC plays at Cypress on Thursday at 2 p.m.
