Irvine Valley's baseball team got back on track Tuesday night.
The Lasers, who had dropped two straight games, defeated Mt. San Antonio, 9-6, on the road.
The win leveled Irvine Valley's record at 2-2 in the young season.
"It was a nice effort," IVC coach Kent Madle said. "We were much more relaxed and expected good things to happen.
Irvine sophomore lefthander Ryan Abady earned the win on the mound, which was his first of the season.
Abady, a returning all-Orange Empire Conference player, went seven innings and gave up seven hits and four runs (three earned) with two walks.
Freshman Austin Reynolds pitched the final two innings for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley broke the game open with four runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Sophomore shortstop Jordan Gillerman had a big game at the plate, going 2 for 3 with four runs scored. He also had a stolen base.
Sophomore center fielder Dillon Millar added two hits, including a double and had two RBI.
Freshman Adam Rossit went 2 for 3 with a walk and one RBI, freshman designated hitter Jarrett Anton went 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs scored and freshman first baseman Tyler Wagner drove in a run.
And freshman right fielder Weston Ellis and sophomore left fielder Clint Jack pulled off a double steal with Ellis taking home.
Irvine Valley plays again on Thursday, hosting Mt. San Jacinto at 2 p.m. Mt. San Jacinto defeated IVC, 3-1, last Saturday in San Jacinto.
