Irvine Valley set for sophomore night against Riverside Tuesday

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team, ranked No. 8 in the state, plays its final home match of the season on Tuesday night against Riverside at home in an Orange Empire Conference match at 6 p.m.

The Lasers will host sophomore night and honor Natalia Brandlin, Ava Guenther, Tessa Marocco, Avery Bennett, Sydney Schuler, Felicia Bonus, Mia Bertolone and Olivia Ortega.

Irvine Valley has a record of 18-4 overall and 12-3 in the Orange Empire Conference.

The Lasers can earn a share of the OEC title with a victory tonight.

Irvine Valley defeated Santiago Canyon, 25-7, 25-11, 25-14, last Friday night at home.

IVC was led by Guenther with 11 kills. She also had a hitting percentage of .421. Bradlin finished with eight kills, five blocks and hit .500.

Ortega contributed seven kills, seven digs and hit .500 and Marocco had six kills, five aces and hit .455.

The Lasers hit an impressive .423 as a team.

The offense was run by Bertolone with 33 assists. She also had four aces, six digs and two blocks.

Freshman libero Audrey Fowler added a team-high 17 digs and chipped in three aces.

Marocco ranks first in the conference in aces per set at 0.73 and is fourth in kills per set at 3.59 and third in total kills with 255.

Brandlin is first in the OEC in hitting percentage at .426 and first in blocks per set at 1.23.

Folwer ranks first in digs per set at 4.56 and total digs at 328 in the conference and Bertolone is first in assists per set in the OEC at 11.15.

Irvine Valley will find out its playoff seeding by Thursday.

Riverside has a record of 15-10 overall and is 9-6 in the Orange Empire Conference.

RCC sits in fifth place in the conference standings.

The Tigers are on a two-match win streak and defeated Santa Ana, 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 25-13, last Thursday on the road.

Riverside's Kaylee Torres is ranked third in the conference in digs per set at 3.78, Toaetolu is third in the conference in blocks per set at 1.04 and Audrey Elias is fourth in the OEC in assists per set at 6.95. Nina Peay leads RCC in kills per set at 2.53.
