Volleyball team goes on the road again, takes care of business

The Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team took care of business in an Orange Empire Conference match Friday night at Riverside.

The Lasers, ranked No. 7 in the state, captured their seventh straight victory and 11th sweep on the year with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 win over the Tigers.

Irvine Valley moved its record to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the OEC. The Lasers took over first place in conference. They are the only team with one loss in the conference standings.

The Lasers had standout performances across the board. Sophomore opposite Ava Guenther finishedwith 12 kills and hit .312, sophomore middle blocker Natalia Brandlin finished with nine kills and three blocks and hit .375 and sophomore outside hitter Tessa Marocco added eight kills, six aces, eight digs and hit .315 for the Lasers.

IVC sophomore setter Mia Bertolone ran the offense with 32 assists and contributed nine digs and freshman libero Audrey Fowler ended with 13 digs and three aces.

The Lasers are back in action to start the second round of conference play at home against Saddleback at home on Wednesday against Golden West at 6 p.m.
