The 2023 Irvine Valley women's volleyball schedule has been released.
The full schedule for the Lasers, guided by new coach Anna Unke, can be seen here
Irvine Valley will start the campaign with a scrimmage at Pasadena City on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.
The Lasers play in a scrimmage tournament the following day on Aug. 18 at Cerritos College.
Irvine Valley officially starts real match play on Friday, Aug. 25 at College of the Canyons at 5 p.m.
The Lasers host their first match of the 2023 season on Friday, Sept. 1 against Moorpark.
Irvine Valley opens its 16-match Orange Empire Conference schedule on Friday, Sept. 15 at Golden West at 6 p.m.
IVC advanced to the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs and finished the year with a record of 20-5 overall under coach Ryan Windisch. The Lasers won an Orange Empire Conference title and had all-state player Jayli Nealy move on to Cal State Fullerton.
Windisch was recently named to the Thirty under 30 list by the AVCA and has moved on as a top assistant for the University of Arizona women's indoor volleyball team.
But Irvine Valley is proud to have former standout player Unke as the new head coach. She is proud to have assistant coaches Eric Olson, Hannah Matt and Kris Johnson on her staff.
She played both indoor and beach at Irvine Valley and then signed to play indoor and beach at Cal State Bakersfield.
"I love to coach and want to create a family among our team," Unke said. "And I want the players to reach their full potential. The grinding mindset of working hard and taking care of each other on and off the court is so important."
