The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team is on a roll.
The Lasers swept their third straight opponent Friday afternoon.
And it was a team, like IVC, that was also undefeated.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-0 overall with a 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 victory over Moorpark at home. The Raiders' record slipped to 3-1 overall.
IVC was led by sophomore outsisde hitter Tessa Marocco, who finished with 17 kills, and 11 digs. She also hit an impressive .500 on the night.
Sophomore middle Natalia Brandlin added 10 kills and two aces. Sophomore setter Mia Bertolone had 43 assists and two aces and freshman outside hitter Ava Guenther had nine kills, three aces and four digs.
Irvine Valley got off to a slow start and trailed, 7-2, in the first set. But the Lasers tied it at 13 and never looked back.
IVC took a 23-19 lead on a kill by Marocco and moved to match point at 24-22 on another Marocco kill.
Marocco tooled the block to give the Lasers a 25-22 win in the first set.
The second set was close throughout, but Irvine Valley closed strong. A Marocco kill put the Lasers in front, 24-21. Moorpark closed to within 24-23, but a serving error by the Raiders gave the Lasers the set.
In the third and final set, Irvine Valley trailed, 14-13 after an ace by Moorpark's Hyemin Jo.
But the Lasers reponded, scoring seven of the next nine points to take a 20-15 lead. An ace by Marocco and a kill by freshman outside hitter Tatum Pongs moved IVC closer to the win.
And, Pongs tooled the block at match point to secure the win for Irvine Valley.
The Lasers playe again next Wednesday at home, hosting MiraCosta at 6 p.m.
