Irvine Valley's baseball team was swept by Saddleback in a three-game Orange Empire Conference series this week.
The Lasers lost, 6-0, on Tuesday at home, fell, 11-4, on the road on Thursday and then came up short, 4-1, on Saturday at home.
Irvine Valley's record went to 13-15 overall and 0-9 in the OEC. Saddleback improved to 18-10 overall and 4-5 in conference.
On Saturday, Saddleback jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run home run by Andreas Nilsen in the top of the first inning.
Irvine Valley pulled a run back in the bottom of the fourth inning when freshman center fielder Sam Tucci scored on a groundout.
But the Bobcats moved their lead to 4-1 in the top of the eight inning on an RBI single by Nilsen.
Irvine Valley sophomore left-hander Jackson Chastain went a solid seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts. His record went to 2-3 on the season.
Jace Barajas earned the win for Saddleback. He went six innings and gave up one run on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Sophomore third baseman Shaun McCaghren had two hits for IVC on the day.
Saddleback went up, 4-0, at home on Thursday, but the Lasers rallied with two runs in the top of the fifth and two more runs in the top of the sixth on Thursday at Saddleback.
But the Bobcats put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and four runs in the sixth for the win.
Freshman designated hitter Connor Gomez and McCaghren each had two hits for the Lasers. Gomez also scored two runs.
Freshman second baseman Joshua Gutierrez went 1 for 5 with two RBI for Irvine Valley.
Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday, hosting Cypress as part of a three-game series. The Lasers are at the Chargers on Thursday at 2 p.m. and then host Cypress again on Saturday at noon.
