Irvine Valley added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning with freshman left fielder Cole Lefebvre stealing home as part of a double steal and Gomez hitting a RBI double.
Ventura made it a game by scoring three runs in the top of the third inning and another run in the top of the fifth inning to get within 7-4.
