Basketball players Turner, Brennan sign with four-year schools

Irvine Valley sophomore center Breanna Turner and sophomore forward Conerie Brennan recently signed with four-year schools.

Turner is headed to Menlo College and Brennan will play at Holy Names in the fall.

Menlo competes in the NAIA and Holy Names is a Division 2 school. 

Turner had one of the best seasons in IVC program history this past year.

She was already named the Orange Empire Conference MVP and first team all-state this season after averaging 14.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shots overall per game.

She also shot 52.7 percent from the field.

Turner was also named as an All-America Team Honorable mention player in the Junior/Community College division by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Turner scored in double figures in 24 of the 30 games she played in during 2014-15 and topped 20 points in seven contests. She finished the season with 13 straight games scoring in double figures.

She also grabbed at least 10 rebounds in 16 contests and had nine contests with at least 15 rebounds and two games with at least 20 boards.

Turner recorded 14 double-doubles on the year.

She is headed to a Menlo team that went 22-6 a season ago, made its fourth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championships and netted its fourth-straight regular season California Pacific Conference Title.

Brennan averaged 6.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for IVC. She was named second team all-conference for her efforts.

Brennan started 30 of 31 games this past season and scored in every game for the Lasers. She scored in double figures in six contests and eight or more points in 14 games.

She had a season-high 13 points in a win at Santa Ana in conference and grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds in IVC's 71-53 win over Bakersfield in a playoff regional semifinal.

Turner and Brennan helped Irvine Valley to one of its best-ever seasons. The Lasers finished with 27-4 record overall and made a trip to the Southern California Playoffs Regional Final.

IVC was one of the final eight teams in the state playoffs.
