Irvine Valley sophomore Breanna Turner was recently named first team all-state by the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
She is one of six players from Southern California to make the first team.
This follows up Turner being named the Most Valuable Player of the Orange Empire Conference three weeks ago.
Turner, a 6-1 center, helped Irvine Valley to a 27-4 record overall and a trip to the Southern California Playoffs Regional Final.
IVC was one of the final eight teams in the state playoffs. Its season ended with a 75-62 loss at East Los Angeles in the regional final last Saturday night.
Turner averaged 14.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shots overall per game this season.
She also shot 52.7 percent from the field.
Turner scored in double figures in 24 of the 30 games she played this season and topped 20 points in seven contests. She finished the season with 13 straight games scoring in double figures.
Turner also grabbed at least 10 rebounds in 16 contests, nine contests with at least 15 rebounds and had two games with at least 20 boards.
She recorded 14 double-doubles on the year.
One of her best games of the season came in the championship game of the Irvine Valley tournament last December when she scored 27 points and had 21 rebounds in a win over Pasadena City.
In Orange Empire Conference play, Turner averaged 15.6 points to go along with 10.6 rebounds per game. She also shot 58.6 percent from the field during conference action.
She scored in double figures in 11 of the 12 conference games while recording highs of 22 points against Santa Ana and 17 rebounds against Cypress. In the win over Cypress, which helped clinch the conference title for the Lasers, Turner finished with 19 points and 17 rebounds.
Irvine valley won its first Orange Empire Conference title this season since 1998-99 and went undefeated for the first time ever in conference at 12-0.
Other players on the firs team all-state for Southern California were Keisha Cox of Palomar, Tori Mitchell of Riverside, Olivia Ochoa of East Los Angeles, Aubri Smith of Ventura and Lashanique Youngblood of Mt. San Antonio.
Youngblood was also named the player of the year.
