Men's soccer player Marcio Costa headed to D2 Eckerd College

Irvine Valley sophomore men's soccer player Marcio Costa has committed to NCAA Division II Eckerd College in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Costa, from Germany, has played a big role for the Lasers in the 2024 fall season.

The forward started 12 matches this past season and ended the year with eight goals and two assists for 18 points. He had two game-winning goals.

Costa scored the game winners at Santiago Canyon on Oct. 15 (3-1 victory) and at home against Santiago Canyon at home on Nov. 8 (3-1 win).

He ranked second on the team in goals and points on the year.

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 8-12-1 overall and 6-7-1 in the Orange Empire Conference.

Costa is headed to an Eckerd program that went 4-11-1 overall last season.
