After falling behind early to Orange Coast on Friday at home, the Irvine Valley men's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to ralley for a 2-1 Orange Empire Conference win.
It was Irvine Valley's second straight victory in conference and improved its record to 4-8-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference.
The Lasers also moved up in the power points ratings in the state.
Orange Coast (3-7-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the OEC) scored first off of a goal by Brady Powell in the 33th minute off an assist from Gabriel Garcia.
The score went that way to halftime with OCC up, 1-0.
The Lasers were a different team in the second half.
Irvine Valley tied things at 1-1 in the 50th minute as freshman midfielder Cristian Sanchez clipped a ball into the back of the net from freshman forward Morgan Tracey.
Irvine Valley continued to attack offensively. Both freshman forward Marcio Costa and Tracey both created opportunities.
IVC took the lead for good in the 63rd minute when freshman midfielder Luke Newman bashed a left-footed shot inside the near post for the game-winner.
Sophomore forward Armon Haghighat came through with the set up for Newman.
IVC had more chances from Tracey, freshman forward Yahya Alsadeq, freshman midfielder Esteban Mathurent and freshman forward Finn Monk the rest of the way, but coudn't find another goal.
Irvine Valley split its goalkeeper duties with sophomore Josh Simonton playing the first 45 minutes and freshman Rolando Hernandez handling the second half. Each goalie made two saves on the day.
The Lasers play again next Tuesday, hosting Golden West in a conference match at 3 p.m.
