Women's basketball team stays at No. 1 in So. Cal latest poll

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in Southern California for the second straight week in the California Community College Women's Basketball Association poll.

The Lasers, who have won 10-straight games, have a record of 19-2 overall and 8-0 in the Orange Empire Conference.

The Lasers played four games last week (two make-ups due to COVID delays) and recorded a 4-0 mark.

IVC, also ranked No. 5 in the state, improved its record to 19-2 overall and 7-0 in the OEC with a 86-49 win over Orange Coast in a conference game at home on Sunday afternoon.

Over its last 10 wins, IVC has out-scored opponents by 361 points. 

Irvine Valley was also ranked No. 1 in the Jan. 31 poll.

The Lasers were picked fifth in the California Community College Sports Information Association poll this week behind San Joaquin Delta, Sierra, Mt. SAC and Moorpark.

Irvine Valley plays again Wednesday night in a conference game at Fullerton at 7 p.m.
