Star Irvine Valley women's basketball player Paola Roa has signed with DII Cal State Los Angeles.

Roa helped lead Irvine Valley to its best season in program history. The Lasers ended with a record of 26-3 overall and reached the semifinals of the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships.

Roa was named first team all-Orange Empire Conference and was picked to the all-state tournament team.

The Lasers won their fourth straight OEC title, finished the regular season 23-2 overall and went 12-0 in conference.

Irvine Valley was ranked as high as No. 1 in So. Cal. in the last coaches poll. And the Lasers received the No. 2 seed in the So. Cal. regional playoffs.

Roa finished the regular season, averaging 16.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. She led the team in points per game and was second in rebounds per game.

Roa scored in double figures in 20 games with a season-high of 25 points in a 88-45 conference win at Golden West on Feb. 21. She went 11of 19 from the field in that contest.

She is headed to a Cal State LA team that had a record of 14-13 overall and went 12-7 in the CCAA conference.
