Both Irvine Valley and Riverside are looking to move up in the standings with just a few games left in the 2024-25 regular season.
The two teams face off Wednesday night at IVC at 7 p.m. in what is looking like a must win contest for each squad.
Riverside lost a tough game, 66-62, to Cypress at home last Friday.
Riverside's record went to 12-12 overall and 4-7 in Orange Empire Conference play.
Corey Mitchell led the Tigers withy 11 points (5 of 10 shooting) and Jayden Miller followed with 10 points. RCC out-rebounded the Chargers, 44-26, with Andre Sklelin grabbing a game-high 10 boards.
Mitchell finished with nine rebounds and Myon Kirlew added seven rebounds.
On the year, Christian Warren averages 16.4 points and 7.9 rebounds, Skelin is averaging 13.6 points and 11.0 rebounds, Deacon Toliver averages 10.0 points and 7.8 rebounds and Mitchell is averaging 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for the Tigers.
Irvine Valley lost its second game in a row last Friday, falling at Santiago Canyon, 90-57. Irvine Valley's record went to 12-12 overall and 4-7 in conference (the same as Riverside).
The Lasers shot just 38.3 percent from the field as a team and 20.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Freshman forward Matt Mowers led IVC with 12 points and five rebounds, freshman guard Allen Moser had 11 points and sophomore guard Ammon Allan finished with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals for IVC.
On the year, Mowers is averaging 12.4 points and 5.5 rebounds, freshman wing Yanis Aldeguer averages 9.5 points, Allan averages 9.1 points and 4.8 rebounds, sophomore forward Josiah Reed is averaging 7.6 points and 5.5 rebounds and Moser averages 8.7 points and 2.9 assists.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, hosting Orange Coast in its final regular season game at 6 p.m.
