Men's basketball team splits its first two games at Monterey

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team had its chances in its opening game of the Monterey Bay Classic.

The Lasers came up just short, falling to Sierra, 56-54, on Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore guard Parker Tuttle scored 16 points and freshman forward Matt Mowers had 14 points for the Lasers.

IVC bounced back with an 80-66 win over Hartnell in a consolation game on Friday to move on to the consolation final on Saturday versus Foothil.

Mowers led the way with 19 points and five rebounds.

He was one of four players to score in double figures.

Parker Tuttle added 11 points, and sophomore forward Josiah Reed aend sophomore center Ben Starks each chipped in 10 points.

Reed also finished with 10 rebounds and three assists. 

Freshman guard Nate Tuttle and freshman guard Allen Moser each chipped in eight points for IVC in the win over Hartnell.

Irvine Valley plays again on Saturday, taking on Foothill in the consolation final.
