Men's basketball player JT Robinson headed to Sonoma State

Irvine Valley sophomore men's basketball player JT Robinson is headed to NCAA Divsion II Sonoma State.

Robinson had originally committed to NAIA Westcliff University, but will be playing for the Seawolves and coach Rich Shayewitz.

Robinson, a combo guard, has been a key part of the Laser program.

Robinson helped Irvine Valley to a record of 18-11 overall and a trip to the California Community College Athletic Association So. Cal. Regional playoffs this past season.

Robinson, who shined after coming back from an injury, averaged 9.6 points in 19 games, and was named an Orange Empire Conference honorable selection player in 2021-22.

He had a career-high 32 points in Irvine Valley's 78-69 loss to Long Beach City at home in the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.

Robinson, a 6-2 guard out of JSerra High, averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in his freshman year in 2019-20.

Irvine Valley didn't have a season during the 2020-21 season because of the COVID pandemic.

Robinson is gong to a Sonoma State program that competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
