Fans are back at Irvine Valley contests starting on Tuesday

Irvine Valley College Athletics announced that fans will once again be allowed at home sports events, starting on Tuesday, Feb. 15 with social distancing and masks requrired.

IVC has a full slate of games this week at home, starting on Feb. 15.

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team, considered one of the top squads in the state, takes on four-year Hope International at 2 p.m. at home.

Then the Lasers host two big basketball games.

The Irvine Valley men's team, ranked 15th in the state in the latest California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association Poll, plays a key Orange Empire Conference contest against No. 27 Saddleback at 5 p.m.

Admittance is free, but again, masks are required per district and college policy.

Following the men's match-up with the Bobcats, the Irvine Valley women's basketball team will play to capture its fourth straight OEC title at 7 p.m. against Orange Coast.

The Lasers, who have a record of 20-2 overall, were ranked No. 1 in Southern California for the third straight week on Monday in the California Community Colllege Women's Basketball Coaches Association Poll.

And there is a lot more going on with IVC athletics this week.

The baseball team, which has won five consecutive games, hosts Chaffey at the OC Great Park (Field 10) on Wednesday at noon.

The Laser women's beach volleyball team will host its first official matches on Friday morning playing El Camino at 10 a.m. and MiraCosta at 11 a.m.

And the IVC men's volleyball team, coming off a big week last week with three wins, hosts Palomar in Hart Gym at 6 p.m. Friday and then takes on one of the top NCAA Division III teams, UC Santa Cruz, on Saturday at 2 p.m. at home.
