Irvine Valley's men's soccer team stayed unbeaten in Orange Empire Conference play with a 4-1 win over Saddleback at home on Friday.
Sophomore standout forward Grant Miller scored two goals, star sophomore defender Lennart Granzow and rising freshman forward Armon Haghighat each added scores in the victory for IVC.
Sophomore forward Ivan Lopez contributed two assists in the victory.
The win moved Irvine Valley's record to 7-2-4 overall and 2-0-4 in conference play. Saddleback went to 5-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in conference.
The Lasers moved into third place in the OEC standings.
Irvine Valley tot on the board early. in the ninth minute Miller scored on a header from Lopez.
And then in the 11th minute Haghighat scored off of a pass from sophomore defender Gabriel Velasco.
The Lasers had a chance to add to their lead, but missed a penalty kick in the 29th minute.
Saddleback then made it a 2-1 game in the 33rd minute on a goal by Pedro Castillo at the near post off of a feed by Alex Martinez.
The half ended with IVC ahead, 2-1.
The Lasers came out focused off of the whistle in the second half and took a 3-1 lead in the 51st minute. Granzow finished a free kick from Lopez.
And IVC put the game away a few minutes later when Miller scored on another header. Haghighat had the assist on the goal.
Miller scored his eighth and nine goals on the season. Lopez had his ninth and 10th assists and now has 26 points on the year.
IVC freshman keeper Josh Simonton ended with five saves.
Irvine Valley is back at home next Tuesday and hosting Cypress at 3 p.m. in a conference match.
