The Irvine Valley men's soccer team has been ranked in the top 20 of the two-year DIII United Coaches Soccer Association Poll for the first time this season.
The poll, which was the fourth of the season, was released on Tuesday. IVC is ranked seventh best among teams from California on the list.
Irvine Valley has a record of 5-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Orange Empire Conference action.
The Lasers started conference play on Tuesday with a 1-1 tie at home against Golden West. Freshman midfielder Sam Lockheart scored IVC's goal in the first half off of an assist from sophomore forward Ivan Lopez.
IVC is unbeaten in its last five matches with four victories.
Lopez ranks first in the conference in assists with six and third in points with 14.
Freshman IVC keeper Josh Simonton is fifth in the conference in goals against average at 1.38.
The Lasers play at No. 5 in the nation Fullerton on Friday at 3 p.m. in one of the biggest matches in the state in the early season.
