Men's soccer team moves up in the two-year Coaches Poll

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team moved up eight spots in this week's rankings in the two-year DIII United Coaches Soccer Association Poll.

Irvine Valley was ranked No. 15 last week.

But the Lasers scored two ties, drawing with Golden West, 1-1, at home on Tuesday and then rallied for a 3-3 draw at Fullerton on Friday. Fullerton was ranked fourth in this week's poll.

Irvine Valley has a record of 5-2-2 overall and 0-0-2 in Orange Empire Conference action.

IVC fell behind, 3-0, early at Fullerton last Friday, but rallied with two goals by sophomore forward Ivan Lopez and another by sophomore forward Grant Miller. Miller's goal came in the 88th minute to knot the score at 3.

Lopez is second in the conference in goals with six, first in assists and second in points with 18. And IVC freshman goalie Josh Simonton ranks tied for second in goals against at 1.38 per match.

Irvine Valley plays at Orange Coast on Tuesday in another conference game at 3 p.m.
