Three Irvine Valley men's basketball players were recently named to all-Orange Empire teams.
Sophomore post player Jesse Stines was selected to the first team and sophomore guards Roman Swizek and Luke Farrington were each picked to the second team.
The trio helped Irvine Valley to a 17-12 overall record, 8-8 mark in the conference for third place and a trip to the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs. IVC fell in the opening round in a tough 68-62 game at San Bernardino Valley.
Stines led the Lasers in points, rebounds and blocks on the season. He also ranked second in field goal percentage and three-point shooting.
The 6-6 Stines averaged 13.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. He shot 48.8 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from three-point range.
Stines, out of Sonora High, scored in double figures in 24 of Irvine Valley's 29 games.
Swizek was second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game. The 6-3 guard out of Chapparal High in Temecula shot 41.8 percent from the field.
He scored in double figures in 16 games with a season-high 28 points in Irvine Valley's defeat at San Bernardino in the postseason.
Farrington was one of the top shooting guards in the state. He averaged 9.1 points and 3.4 rebounds, but shot 49.1 percent from the field and 49.6 percent from the three-point line.
Farrington was a leader in three-point shooting much of the season.
The 6-4 guard out of Mission Viejo High sank 58 three-pointers on the year, including hitting a season-high 8 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points in Irvine Valley's 67-55 win over Santa Ana on Feb. 9.
