Men's basketball team takes down El Camino by 13

After a tough loss at Mt. San Antonio last Friday, the Irvine Valley men's basketball team responded with a solid 71-58 nonconference win at El Camino on Wednesday night on the road.

The Lasers improved their record to 7-3 overall.

Sophomore guard Roman Swizek led IVC with 22 points. He shot 7 of 15 from the field and knocked down all six of his free throw attempts.

Sophomore post player Jesse Stines added 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks and sophomore guard Luke Farrington had 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Lasers.

IVC led, 33-23, at the half and out-scored the Warriors, 38-35, in the second half.

Irvine Valley shot 50 percent from the field (24 of 48) as a team, out-rebounded El Camino, 41-32, and had 23 assists on its 24 made baskets on the night. 

Sophomore wing player Marcus Carter chipped in seven points and freshman forward Ethan Tauber ended with eight rebounds, five points and two blocks for IVC.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday at home, hosting LA Valley at 5 p.m.
