Men's basketball team starts with big-time win over Ventura

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team started its own 27th Irvine Valley Classic with a 71-53 over Ventura Thursday night.

It was IVC's first game of the year and opening win.

The Lasers had four players score in double figures, led by freshman guard Ammon Allan with 21 points.

Sophomore guard Roman Swizek added 17 points, sophomore forward Jesse Stines had 15 points and six rebounds and sophomore wing Luke Farrington added 10 points, five assists and four rebounds.

IVC standout point guard David Ogunlade added six points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and was a star on defense for IVC.

The Lasers play again on Saturday in the tournament final at 4 p.m. against Cerritos.

The schedule for Saturday is Ventura taking on Canyons at 2 p.m. and then the Lasers playing Cerritos at 4 p.m.
