The Irvine Valley men's basketball team starts its Orange Empire Conference slate Tuesday night with a home game against rival Orange Coast at 6 p.m.
The Lasers have a record of 8-3 overall.
IVC is coming off of a 69-49 win over LA Valley last Friday night at home. Sophomore post player Jesse Stines finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, sophomore guard Luke Farrington had 14 points and four assists, Marcus Carter came off the bench and contributed nine points and five rebounds and sophomore guard Roman Swizek chipped in seven points.
Sophomore guard David Ogunlade had a big impact, especially on the defensive end of the floor. Ogunlade ended with five points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals in the contest.
For IVC, Stines is averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds on the year.
He is shooting 47.3 percent from the field.
Farrington averages 10.3 points and leads on the Orange Empire Conference in three-point shooting percentage at 51.5 percent.
Swizek averages 9.2 points, sophomre guard Ammon Allan is averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds and Ogunlade averages 7.3 points, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest.
Orange Coast has a record of 6-4 overall.
The Pirates last played on Dec. 8 and defeated San Diego Miramar at home, 59-52.
Josh Govett led Coast with 15 points, while Sam Hunter continued his steady play with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists.
The Pirate defense forced 14 Miramar turnovers and held the Jets to under 40 percent shooting from the floor (18 of 46).
Hunter is averaging 19.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game to lead OCC.
Isaac Padilla averages 11.0 points and 3.5 rebounds and Govett and Mitchell Rawlins are each averaging 9.2 points per game.
Govett also averages 3.0 assists and Rawlins is averaging a team-best 7.9 rebounds.
