Standout women's soccer player Faith Hong is off to Westcliff

Irvine Valley women's soccer starting player for two seasons Faith Hong is headed to NAIA Westcliff University in Irvine, IVC head coach Tom Lancaster announced.

Hong, out of University High in Irvine, was named second-team, all-Orange Empire Conference this past season after a stellar year all over the field.

She helped IVC to one of its better seasons in recent years.

The squad finished with a record of 10-10-1 overall and went a solid 5-8 in conference.

Hong was steady as a defender, helping IVC give up just 16 goals on the season and helping the Lasers shut out 10 opponents.

Westcliff finished with a record of 12-1-3 overall last fall and reached the second round of the NAIA national tournament at the College of Idaho.

Hong played in 41 matches and started in 35 of those games over her two years at Irvine Valley.
