Women's soccer team shuts out Fullerton, 1-0, at home

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team took plenty of shots on goal, but had to wait until early in the second half to find the back of the net in a 1-0 Orange Empire Conference win over Fullerton at home Friday afternoon.

The Lasers took 15 shots with many of them on goal.

Sophomore forward Jordan Madison scored the game-winner in the 51st minute off an assist from freshman defender Liliana Springer to put IVC in front.

Freshman forward Nikki MacDonald, freshman midfielder Ashley Reina, freshman forward Jocelyn Quinonez and Madison each had other solid chances to score for the Lasers.

Sophomore goalie Sydnee Salamoff played all 90 minutes and earned the clean sheet. She made two saves on the day.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in conference.

The Lasers play again next Tuesday at home, hosting Santiago Canyon in an OEC contest at 3 p.m.
