Women's soccer team falls by a goal to Santiago Canyon

The Irvine Valley women's soccer team played Santiago Canyon tough for the second straight time in Orange Empire Conference play, but came up just short once again.

After losing to the Hawks, 2-0, late last month at home, IVC went on the road and battled even more, but fell, 1-0 to SCC.

The winning goal came in the 15th minute when Samantha Aguila raced down the far side o the field and spotted Alyssa Marino making a run on the near side.

Aguila delivered a pass into the box, where Marino finished into the back of the net.

Irvine Valley finished with five shots in the contest.

Freshman forward Kuuipo Laumatia led IVC with two shots (both on goal).

Laser sophomore goalie Sydnee Salamoff ended with eight saves on the day.

Irvine Valley's record went to 9-10-1 overall and 4-8-1 in the OEC.

Irvine Valley plays its final two contests of the regular season at home next week. The Lasers host Orange Coast at home at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and then host Golden West Friday on sophomore day at 5 p.m.
