The Irvine Valley College athetics Character Champion award winners for the 2024-25 season are star sophomore women's soccer player Jordan Madison and standout sophomore men's basketball Josiah Reed.
Reed averaged 8.2 points and 5.4 rebounds a game for the Lasers on the court.
He was named second-team, all-Orange Conference.
Irvine Valley ended the season with a record of 17-14 overall and made the So. Cal. regional playoffs under first-year head coach Jason Garey.
"He is a great kid, good student, excellent teammate, and serves his community," Garey said.
Reed was also a team captain for the Lasers.
On the women's side there was no doubt that Madison was not only a great player, but also a team leader.
She is headed to NCAA Division II Fort Lewis College in Colorado.
Madison was named first team all-Orange Empire Conference last fall after helping Irvine Valley to a record of 10-10-1 overall.
Madison led Irvine Valley with 12 goals and 18 points on the season.
Madison had two matches where she scored two goals in each contest, including two goals and one assist for five points in IVC's 4-0 win at Grossmont on Aug. 27, 2024.
She also scored two goals in IVC's 3-0 triumph at Santa Ana in a conference game on Oct. 29, 2024.
Madison ended up with six game-winning goals and also added four assists in the 2024 fall campaign.
"She was an excellent teammate and leader on the team," Coach Tom Lancaster said. "Jordan was a team captain and a top player for the squad all year long."
