Francis Davin named assistant coach with IVC women's soccer

Francis Davin has been hired as a new head assistant coach with the Irvine Valley women's soccer team for the fall 2024 season.

He will start his new role as head of performance analysis and scouting.

"It's a privilege to be part of a program that is not only the No. 1 transfer school in the State but also with such potential to allow players to reach their goals off and on the field, "Davin said."

"I'm excited to be working alongside Tom (Lancaster) and continuing the positive team culture that values teamwork, communication, and mutual respect.

"Personally as a coach, I'm constantly learning and growing and looking forward to doing this alongside our fellow coaches and players, and excited to see the impact we can make together."

Prior to his appointment at Irvine Valley, Davin served as an assistant coach at Westcliff University on the men's soccer side.

During his time with the Warriors, the team achieved impressive success, including making the final 16 at the NAIA National Championships with an overall record of 18-2, capped by winning the Cal Pac Regular Season Championship and Cal Pac Championship tourney.

The team also led the nation in several key statistics including shots (406), goals (97), goals per game (5.11), and assists (91).

Davin has a diverse background in coaching, having held various roles in Southern California, including Regional Director for LA Galaxy OC East and Assistant Technical Director for Liverpool FC IA So. Cal.

He currently coaches two MLS Next teams with SoCal Reds FC.

Before transitioning to college coaching, Francis led the boys soccer team at Beckman High to its first ever championship in school history.

Davin began his coaching career in the UK at the age of 16, coaching a U7 team and earning his first FA coaching license.

After several years of part-time coaching, he pursued a degree in Computer Science at the University of Leicester while continuing to play soccer.

After completing his education, Davin entered a career in software support before returning to coaching through summer camps and eventually securing a full-time coaching position in New Jersey.

Before moving to California, Davin was running his own club as Director of Coaching and Operations, as well as leading multiple teams into the top rankings of NJ soccer.

He is completing his A License (2024) and also holds an Advanced National Diploma and his FA Level 1 license.

He has also had the opportunity to coach in various parts of the world, including South America, Africa, and South East Asia, over the course of his 26-year coaching career.

Davin is now based in Rancho Santa Margarita with his wife Natalie and their two children, Aston and Witton.
