Men's tennis team moves its players on to state tourney

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team competed at the Orange Empire Conference tournament on Thursday at Orange Coast and had an impressive day with all of its players moving on to Ojai in late April.

The tournament was just held on one day instead of the normal two days.

And in a twist this year, several of the top singles players and doubles teams were automatically moved on to state, including IVC's top three players in sophomores Nick Grove, Sufyan Ashraf and Luis Moros.

IVC also had all three of its doubles teams advance.

Of the players who competed in singles Irvine Valley sophomore Luciano Pardo moved on with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the second round, freshman Nevin McCann advanced with a 6-0, 6-4 win and freshman Lucas Diaz moved on with a 6-1, 5-0, retired triumph.

Irvine Valley now awaits seedings for the So. Cal. regional playoffs. They will be announced this weekend.

IVC with a record of 10-2 overall is expected to be among the top four seeds.
