Ross Duncan was named the new men's tennis coach at Irvine Valley before the start of the 2013 season. And he took over the IVC women's tennis program starting with the 2017 season.

He has done wonders with the men's program over the last seven seasons and the women's program the last three years.

The Irvine Valley men's squad won four straight Orange Empire Conference titles, finished as the runner-up at the CCCAA State Championships in 2014 and then won three straight CCCAA team state titles in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The team once again captured an OEC title in 2019 and was just one match away from making the state final.

Irvine Valley has a record of 106-22 overall over the last seven seasons under Duncan, including going 62-6 in the Orange Empire Conference. The Lasers won 46 straight matches in conference.

Irvine Valley players have also captured several state individual titles over the last several seasons. The team of Valentin Baize and Max Rumeau won the state doubles title in 2015, Javier Callejo won the state singles title and the team of Scott Paz and Bruno Figlia captured the state doubles title in 2016 and in 2017, Callejo repeated his state singles title and also won the state doubles championship with teammate Bruno Figlia.

Duncan also helped Irvine Valley garner singles players of the year in the conference in Guillermo Ucelay (2015) and Sam Cohen (2016).

With the women's team, Duncan has led Irvine Valley to the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs three years in a row and an Orange Empire Conference title in 2017. IVC has a record of 32-16 over the last three seasons and has gone 22-8 in conference since 2017.

Duncan has an extensive tennis background as a top player and coach. He was the No. 1 junior from South Africa before coming to the United States on a scholarship to play at Pepperdine University. Ross went on to also star at UC Santa Barbara.

He played No. 1 singles and doubles at UCSB and helped lead the Gauchos to the best season in school history with a sweet 16 finish at the NCAA Tournament.

After studying sports management and graduating, he played professional tennis and earned ATP points in both singles and doubles and also competed for nine seasons in the prestigious Bundesliga in Germany.

Duncan then went on to coach as the interim head coach at UC Santa Barbara and as the associate head coach at Oregon. In addition, he also coached professionally on the WTA Tour, including guiding a former top 30 player in the world.

Duncan was recently ranked No. 1 in the nation in the Men's 35 Singles Division and has won back-to-back National Hard Court Championships in singles.

In 2012, he represented Team USA as the No. 1 singles player in the World Championship. Ross has again been chosen to represent Team USA in 2013 and was named captain of the team by the United States Tennis Association.

Duncan was ranked No. 9 in the world in his age division four years ago.

In addition to his playing prowess, Ross is the National Director for Nike Tennis Camps and owner of Peak Performance Tennis.
