Irvine Valley's men's tennis team won five of six matches in singles to open up and went on to beat Riverside, 8-1, in an Orange Empire Conference match on Thursday at home.
Irvine Valley moved within a win of clinching at least a share of the conference title.
But the Lasers are after their second straight undefeated conference campaign.
Irvine Valley finishes the regular season with a match at home against Cypress on Friday and then another home match against Saddleback next Tuesday.
IVC, which is ranked first in Southern California, improved its record to 12-1 overall and 8-0 in conference with Thursday's win.
The Lasers got straight set wins in singles from sophomores Guillermo Ucelay and Simon Guillin at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively.
Freshmen Flavien Raveau (No. 3) and Carson Williams (No. 4) each also won in straight sets. Raveau gave up just three games.
Freshman Bruno Figlia won in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
Riverside (9-6, 4-3) earned its lone win of the day at No. 6 singles where Edward Riman defeated IVC freshman Scott Paz, 7-5, 7-5.
IVC then captured all three doubles matches with the teams of Ucelay and Guillin, sophomore Valentin Baize and Williams and Paz and Figlia each winning, 8-3.
