Irvine Valley's men's tennis team put together its best effort of the season so far last Friday.
The Lasers, ranked No. 1 in Southern California, routed San Diego Mesa, 9-0.
Mesa was undefeated going into the match and had impressive 5-4 victories over Ventura, College of the Desert and Cerritos on its resume.
IVC won all three doubles matches and then captured six singles contests in a row, including five of the singles matches in straight sets.
Doubles matches opened the day and IVC claimed the first two easily.
Irvine Valley's No. 1 team of sophomores Guillermo Ucelay and Simon Guillin defeated Luka Stanivukovich and Scott Wheeler, 8-2.
And Irvine Valley's No. 3 team of freshmen Carson Williams and Scott Paz won, 8-1.
Irvine Valley's No. 2 squad of freshman Tony Selim and sophomore Valentin Baize earned a wild back and forth 9-8 win over Mesa's Felippo Bedin and Corentin Haener.
In singles, Irvine Valley cruised.
Ucelay won, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot.
Guillin, freshman Flavien Raveau, Paz and freshman Bruno Figlia each also earned victories in straight sets in singles for the Lasers.
Figlia was impressive, taking his match, 6-2, 6-0.
The Lasers also captured the final singles match on the courts with Williams topping Mesa's Tyler Luck in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-1, 7-6, 1-0.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 8-0 on the season.
The team plays again next Tuesday in an Orange Empire Conference match at Cypress.
