Freshman Lennart Granzow, the star center back for the Irvine Valley men's soccer team, picked up another deserved award.
The standout defender from Germany, who had already been named first-team all-conference, was also selected all-region for the Lasers.
He helped IVC to six shutouts this season and also scored three, game-winning goals.
The Lasers ended the 2022 fall season with a record of 11-7-5 overall, finished fifth in the Orange Empire Conference and made the California Community College Athletic Association regional playoffs.
IVC defeated Antelope Valley, 3-1, at home in a first-round match-up before falling to a tough El Camino squad, 3-0, on the road in the second round in mid-November.
Granzow was one of the best back line players in the state this season. He started all 22 contests for Irvine Valley.
He helped IVC give up just 21 goals in 22 matches on the season.
Granzow also recorded three goals for six points. And each goal was important.
All three of his goals were game-winners (against Southwestern, Santa Ana and Antelope Valley).
Granzow's goal against Santa Ana on Sept. 27 at home was a header off a corner kick and resulted in a big, 1-0 win for the Lasers.
