Men's basketball player Patrick Sniff signs with Western State

Irvine Valley sophomore men's basketball player Patrick Sniff recently signed with NCAA Division 2 Western State of Colorado.

"It is a great opportunity for Pat to play to contribute at the next level," Irvine Valley coach Jerry Hernandez said. "Our coaching staff is really happy for him and we know he is ready to get to Western State and work hard."

Sniff, a 6-8 post player, averaged 4.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game during the 2015-16 season for IVC. He also shot a team-high 54.0 percent from the field for the Lasers.

Sniff scored in double figures three times and topped seven points in five games.

He had a double-double with a season-high 15 points and 10 rebounds in a game against Cypress. Sniff went 7 of 9 from the field in that game.

Sniff helped Irvine Valley to a 15-13 overall record this past season.

Sniff Played at Riverside during the 2013-14 season and red-shirted at Irvine Valley during the 2014-15 season.

He was a four-year varsity player at Great Oak High and was named first team all-Southwestern League as a senior when he averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds and one block per game. He was picked as all-county honorable mention as a senior.

Sniff is headed to a Western State Mountaineers team that plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The team finished with a record of 6-22 overall last year.
