Irvine Valley's men's basketball team was impressive in its final game before the start of Orange Empire Conference play.

The Lasers led from start to finish in a 93-67 win over LA Valley at home on Wednesday night.

The 93 points scored were a season-high, eclipsing the 88 points IVC scored in a win over Long Beach City in November.

Irvine Valley had 12 players score in all and four finish in double figures in the victory, which improved the team's record to 12-4 overall.

Freshman guard Chris Lott led the way with 16 points. Freshman point guard Isaiah Milan ended with 15 points, five assists and four steals, sophomore forward Tanner Aguera had 11 points and sophomore forward Jacob Dean contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

Sophomore forward Craig Magyar added eight points and three assists and freshman guard Mike Turner had seven points and four rebounds for the Lasers. Freshman forward Zach Harvey pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Irvine Valley out-rebounded LA Valley, 40-35.

The Lasers shot 52.3 percent (34 of 65) for the game, including 56.3 percent (18 of 32) in the first half when they jumped out to a 51-29 lead.

A big difference in the game was IVC's 44-16 edge on points in the paint.

The Lasers scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back. A three-pointer by Milan off an assist from Lott gave the Lasers a 9-0 advantage less than three minutes into the contest.

A jumper by Aguera pushed Irvine Valley's lead to 17-6 with 13:39 left in the opening half.

And later, a three-point play by sophomore guard Jacob Short put the Lasers up, 38-25, with 3:48 left in the half.

Irvine Valley scored the final six points of the first half, getting a layup by Lott, a jumper by Aguera and two free throws by freshman center Lamont Tyler to take a 22-point lead into the break.

Tyler came  off the bench with four points, six rebounds and three assists for IVC.

Irvine Valley led by as many as 30 points in the second half before winning by 26.

LA Valley, which saw its record fall to 4-8 overall, was paced by Michael Morrissey, who had 19 points and six assists. Morrissey went 10 of 10 from the free throw line in the contest.

Geordan Sayles added 15 points, Drew Cannon had 14 points and Taturs Maberry finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Monarchs.
