Irvine Valley's men's basketball team won its fourth straight game, beating Mt. San Antonio, 71-66, Wednesday night at home.

The Lasers, who were ranked No. 12 in the state and No. 6 in Southern California in this week's coaches' poll, improved their record to 5-1 overall.

Mt. SAC, ranked 11th in Southern California, slipped to 3-5 overall.

Eight players scored at least six points in a balanced effort for IVC.

Freshman guard Mike Turner had another strong game for the Lasers and led the way with 15 points.

Freshman point guard Isaiah Milan, who was named most valuable player of the Irvine Valley Classic last weekend, added 13 points.

Sophomore forward Craig Magyar ended with eight points, freshman guard Chris Lott had seven points and sophomore guard Jacob Short, freshman forward Zach Harvey, sophomore center Patrick Sniff and sophomore forward Jacob Dean each had six points for IVC.

Irvine Valley trailed, 8-3, early, but responded with a 20-6 run.

A three-pointer by Short gave Irvine Valley a 23-14 advantage with 7:16 left in the first half.

A layup by Milan after a steal and then assist by Short put Irvine Valley up, 30-17, with 6:02 left in the half.

Irvine Valley took a 37-28 lead into the break. The Lasers led by double digits for most of the second half before Mt. SAC cut it down to six points in the final minutes.

Milan made four straight free throws in the final minute to put IVC up, 71-63.

Mt. SAC's Lamarquis Thompson sank a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the final score 71-66.

In a strange scene to start the game, Mt. SAC players wore their practice shirts instead of jerseys, which didn't make the trip with the Mounties initially. Mt. SAC was assessed a technical foul for not having the right uniform.

Short sank the technical free throw to give Irvine Valley a 1-0 lead.

The Mounties had their uniforms arrive so that they could wear them in the second half.

Irvine Valley will play again next Thursday through Saturday in the Monterey Peninsula Tournament.
