The Irvine Valley women's basketball team has one of its most important games of the season Friday night at home.
The Lasers host Cypress in a key Orange Empire Conference game at 5 p.m.
Both teams are at 4-2 in the OEC and tied for third place in conference.
Cypress, ranked No. 12 in the state this week, handed then No. 2 in the state Orange Coast its first Orange Empire Conference loss, 73-69, last Friday at home.
Christaesha Jackson led the way for Cypress (15-8 overall) with 17 points and eight rebounds and Journie Hayden had 21 points off the bench.
On the season, Chelsea Caldera averages 11.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists, Kalysa Ng is averaging 10.3 points and 2.5 rebounds, Jackson averages 9.4 points and 9.8 rebounds and Andrea Lopez is averaging 7.6 points per game for the Chargers.
Irvine Valley picked up one of its best wins of the season last Friday, taking down Santa Ana, 73-53 at home.
Irvine Valley's record went to 12-11 overall.
The Lasers had three players score in double figures with sophomore guard Moka Saiki leading the way with 15 points with four assists.
Freshman forward Alexis Price had 14 points, six rebounds and five assists and freshman wing Kivonni Williams had her best game of the year in contributing 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals.
On the year, Saiki is averaging 12.7 points and 2.6 assists per game freshman guard Samantha Barnett averages 11.5 points and 5.4 rebounds, Price is averaging 9.1 points and 6.4 rebounds and freshman forward Neryah Lokeni averages 7.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for Irvine Valley.
IVC plays again in another conference game at Riverside on Friday at 5 p.m.
